Defined by the U.S. State Department as labor obtained through force, fraud, or coercion, contemporary slavery still affects millions worldwide; from forced labor camps and debt bondage to trafficking and domestic servitude.
2023 portrays a child rescued from modern slavery, completing the Emancipated? series and underscoring that the freedom promised in 1863 remains out of reach for many even now.
